The Vidhana Soudha or the State Secretariat, built in 1954, is the main attraction of this city. The Vidhana Soudha, is the seat of the state legislature of Karnataka.
Cubbon Park, the 120-hectare park located near the Vidhana Soudha, has a number of neo-classical styled government buildings. Cubbon Park is a landmark ‘lung’ area of the Bangalore city, located within the heart of city in the Central Administrative Area. It has a rich recorded history of abundant flora and fauna plantations coupled with numerous impressive and aesthetically located buildings and statues of famous personages, in its precincts.
The Government Museum of Bangalore (one of India's oldest museums) and the Viswesvaraya Technological and Industrial Museum are important museums within the city.
The Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens, which holds a number of flower shows, especially during the Republic Day (26th January), is located on the southern fringes of the city.
Karnataka High Court is situated opposite to the Vidhana Soudha in Cubbon Park.
